Response to Hawaii

First of all I am sorry citizens of Hawaii had to go through minutes of per hell thinking they were under attack. No matter what they themselves deserve our thoughts and prayers. The realization that this could happen to them should worry us, as citizens of the US, as people of peace and humankind in general. Before I begin a few thoughts on the atmosphere we are now in. I want to say this ISN'T meant to be political in the sense it shouldn't matter the President of the US is a Republican or the Governor of Hawaii is a Democrat. Let's face it the people who want to kill us don't care our political preferences. With all the finger pointing I want to break down a general response, local, state, and federal. It should be noted the entire "incident" (later labelled by state and local officials a "drill) was an hour and twenty minutes give  or take according to Hawaiian officials.

 All that being said the error was caused by state and local officials,NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. To those who say the president didn't act "presidential", I need to ask, what would you have done differently? By the time he was notified, or any other president would be notified, the incidentt was pretty much over. ALSO for the record it didn't matter  if he waas on a golf course or sitting in the Oval Office, his reaction would have been the same. I also think if Hillary Clinton were in the exact same position she would have yawned, pushed a "reset button" and been on her day They are many who criticize Trump's response. To them I ask what response was needed? Basically an internal human error caused a nuclear scare. People were in panic, when they found out the response they were angry. When they found out Trump's reaction, all of the heat immediately shifted on him.

 What if Trump were in the Oval Office, was immediately notified of the incident?
What if he launched an attack on North Korea? Then what? How wou ld the Democrats. the media react? IMPEACH TRUMP! Ever since Trump announced he was running people have questioned his mental stability. Doesn't his reaction to the Hawaii incident prove he is very stable? I would impeach the Governor of Hawaii long before I'd point the finger at Trump! He   was an idiot when he said the person responsible would be "reassigned". Reassigned? I don't want that person anywhere near an emergency alerting system. The guy should be charged with causing public panic without cause!! I also wouldn't blame Trump if he sent national representatives to monitor Hawaii's emergency management plan. I would send  FEMA in to take over the operation, if only temporarily. They need to investigate what happened to prevent it from happening again

One Contact - Five Lighthouses--W9C

Back in the summer I wrote an entry in here about my Lighthouse phone contact with Bill,N8ET , so now I had to top that with a five lighthouse PSK contact in Wisconsin! I was orginally going to wait until I got the card like my other contacts but I think at this stage of the game you can take my word for it. This contact was with a husband and wife team also known as "Team Cheese"--WI9TC (I love the callsign). Like the contact with Bill, they were in the line of sight of five lighthouses located on the Wisconsin shores of Lake Michigan. As soon as I saw them on the BeaconBot (the e-mail reflector used to notify people of lighthouse activations-) I knew I had to take my best shot. There were tons of stations dying to get a contact. Well after some monitoring of the waterfall and waiting for a break in the QSO's, I dropped my call. Unfortunately I was getting overpowered a lot so I actually wound up waiting for quite awhile. Trip to CT-- Branchville School visit Part III

People tell me not to dwell or harp so three entries about the visit to the Branchville Elementary School might be pushing it. However the closer I get to going up there, the more I have the urge to write about it! Call it a way of comprehending what is going to happen. I have told everyone I know about this trip which makes it seem like I am going up there for more than a day. Although the is the same reaction when I went do to Washington DC on my own, to visit Jane in Tennessee or even the license plate convention in Alabama two years ago. These kids are definitely going to bring back to a time with mixed feelings. I mean the kids I'll be speaking to are same age when things starting getting real tough. It was the perfect storm back then. My body was getting worse, and the more I tried to hide it, the more evident it became.
