Charlie Campbell Tribute

  It has been a whirlwind few weeks. One  father's friends from high school passed away earlier and we made an expected trip down to Murrells Inlet for the celebration of life. They have kept in touch over the years. Charlie moved around a lot during his eighty plus year his roots remained n Allendale, NJ! He and his wife Bev were a fixture a t DeeDee and Anth ony's Fourth of July Parties. I   know their kids,John and Annie.Charlie also had to sons from a previous marriage and it was recently discovered he has another daughter. Charlie was the CEO of several companies, like Floor Shine shoes and Munsingwear, a golf clothing company.  The family moved around a lot from  Allendale,NJ to  Connecticut to Minnesota before finally  settling in Murrells Inlet SC, founding the Dead Dog Saloon, a fixture on the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, he later built the Claw House next door. Simply Simplex-- Part 1

On April 29th I celebrated 25 years in ham radio!  So I have doing a series of blog entries to celebrate the achievement! I will highlight a few accomplishments.     It happened again, I made a simplex contact  from about 80 miles away. Not exactly a record but still pretty decent.  This isn't my first major contact but every simplex contact is special. It's a sign my radio and antenna are receiving, and more importantly transmitting properly. Ever since I  got my license twenty five years ago, I have been fascinated with simplex more than repeaters. For those who don't know the difference between a repeater is a machine usually in a high building or other structure that receives on one frequency and transmits on another.  With simplex it's just one frequency, direct from radio to radio  line of site.
