License Plate Website Update

     It's almost been three years since I decided to abandon my   paid web host  and moved my  website over to Blogger. I realized I hadn't really explored the "pages " feature that  creates single pages you can link to like regular pages on a website. At first I was hesitant because I wanted to keep my HTML coding skills up to par, but I am just happy to get it back !!  I will continue to write about the ALPCA Conventions on here but have an index of all license plate writing on there. .I also plan to cross-post  both blogs. I also have links to the license plate collectors' eBay handles and the "What We Collect" pages from my old site!! The link is http://plates.justinmattes.com

Where does she find the time


If you have been reading this blog for the past few months you might have noticed I added a blog called Love that Max by Ellen--Max's mom. Max was born with Cerebral Palsy on December 4th, 2002, Ellen explains Max's Story the only way loving mother could...from the heart. I imagine my own mother jealous t hat another woman finds the time to blog while raising a son with CP and a younger daughter. My mom had three boys and that was a lot!! This may sound cruel but I sometimes have to chuckle because I can picture my mother going through the same things as Ellen whil I was growing up. Come to think of it my mother's middle name is Ellen, strong name for strong women.
I first stumbled on the blog a few months ago and have been hooked euver sense. To put a cliche on it I feel I really know Ellen AND Max and would love to meet them. (You can insert the eerie Internet stalker music now) Well maybe not MEET them but reading Ellen's blog often makes me reflect. Max turned 10 yesterday, I remember when I was 10, arlight mayb e not exactly bu t I understand what lies ahead for Max and Ellen, the good and the bad.

I wish the Internet as we know it now exsisted when I was growing up. It makes it easier for mothers like Ellen and folks like me to share what they're are going through and find people going through the same thing "Love that Max" has been an inspirat\ion, not only as someone with CP, but as a writer as well. I am starting to take a look at this blog. While I'm not all of a suddenn going to dedicate it to my life with Cerebral Palsy, I am going to try to find a way to incorporate it a bit more into this blog..

One Contact - Five Lighthouses--W9C

Back in the summer I wrote an entry in here about my Lighthouse phone contact with Bill,N8ET , so now I had to top that with a five lighthouse PSK contact in Wisconsin! I was orginally going to wait until I got the card like my other contacts but I think at this stage of the game you can take my word for it. This contact was with a husband and wife team also known as "Team Cheese"--WI9TC (I love the callsign). Like the contact with Bill, they were in the line of sight of five lighthouses located on the Wisconsin shores of Lake Michigan. As soon as I saw them on the BeaconBot (the e-mail reflector used to notify people of lighthouse activations-) I knew I had to take my best shot. There were tons of stations dying to get a contact. Trip to CT-- Branchville School visit Part III

People tell me not to dwell or harp so three entries about the visit to the Branchville Elementary School might be pushing it. However the closer I get to going up there, the more I have the urge to write about it! Call it a way of comprehending what is going to happen. I have told everyone I know about this trip which makes it seem like I am going up there for more than a day. Although the is the same reaction when I went do to Washington DC on my own, to visit Jane in Tennessee or even the license plate convention in Alabama two years ago. These kids are definitely going to bring back to a time with mixed feelings. I mean the kids I'll be speaking to are same age when things starting getting real tough. It was the perfect storm back then. My body was getting worse, and the more I tried to hide it, the more evident it became. 2025 New Year's Note

 WELL here we are folks one quarter of the way into this century!! I have been thinking about writing this email since the beginning of December but of course I am a month late. I am happy to report the Mattes Family is healthy!  Chirs, Natalie, Zander and Quinn are busy as ever! Zander is now a sophomore and studying for his written test to get his driving permit! I have to double check that fact because it's so hard to believe. Quinn is doing well in eighth grade and is on a travelling soccer team which plays in tournaments all over the country. She has one coming up in Florida in  February that dad and I are thinking about going down for a few days to watch her. They BOTH are getting as tall as their uncle Jay which is very hard for him to accept! The family adopted three kittens which as a dog person even I admit they are cute!!
